Since even before the war on Gaza began, as I’ve posted before, Israel has banned foreign journalists from entering the Gaza Strip. Of course, it’s all part of Israel’s propaganda campaign and their way of controlling its message. In addition, the IDF launched its own Youtube channel showing footage of their bomb operations and other army operations in Gaza. Well now Hamas has launched it’s own Youtube-like channel as well. It’s called Paltube. It can be viewed in 20 different languages and offers the options of uploading and sharing videos. I guess two can play the propaganda game.
I can understand why Hamas would start a website like this. Why not try to counteract the Israeli PR machine? The Israeli message apparently has been working well in the US and elsewhere. However, I don’t think many Americans will flock to Paltube. I think the site is basically preaching to the choir; not to those who are uninformed or want to know more about what’s going on in Gaza.
Unfortunately, in the end, this propaganda isn’t going to change the enormous loss of life and widespread destruction that has already taken place in Gaza. It won’t stop it either. Israel continues to attack and Palestinians continue to die.
